LocalSend is a free, open-source app that allows secure, cross-platform local file and message sharing without the internet. It uses your local WiFi network to transfer files and messages directly between devices, ensuring your data never leaves your local network.

You can install LocalSend through:

1. Direct Download: Download from official website
2. Using Homebrew:

Basic Configuration

1. First Launch: Open LocalSend after installation
2. Device Name: The app automatically detects your device name, but you can customize it in settings
3. Network Settings: Ensure your devices are on the same WiFi network
4. Security Settings:
   • Enable PIN protection in settings if desired
   • Configure auto-accept options for trusted networks

How to Use

1. Install LocalSend on all devices you want to share between
2. Open the app on both devices
3. Select Files on the sending device (photos, videos, documents, etc.)
4. Choose Recipient from the list of nearby devices
5. Send - the transfer happens instantly over your local network
6. Receive - files are automatically saved to your Downloads folder

System Requirements

• macOS 10.14 (Mojave) or later
• Compatible with both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs
• WiFi network for device discovery and file transfer
• No internet connection required for file sharing
